Not every Jiu Jitsu school operates the same way, and not every program provides the same level of instruction, structure, or accountability.

If you are paying tuition to learn Jiu Jitsu, you should expect more than access to a mat and a loosely organized class. You should know what you are learning, why you are learning it, how you are progressing, and what is expected of you as you move forward.

At Guerrilla Grappling, our program for both adults and kids is built around a defined curriculum, a consistent class schedule, experienced instruction, and a clear path of progression. Students are not promoted simply because they have attended for a certain amount of time. Advancement requires demonstrated knowledge, technical competence, consistency, and the ability to apply Jiu Jitsu under pressure.

Our approach is rooted in traditional Gracie Jiu Jitsu and emphasizes strong fundamentals, positional control, escapes, pressure, and techniques that hold up against real resistance. Competition can be a valuable part of training, but our curriculum is not designed around points, advantages, or sport-specific strategies. The objective is to develop Jiu Jitsu that works.

We also believe students deserve to understand where their instruction comes from. Our lineage traces through Helio Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Pedro Sauer, and Jim Kelly, and our instructors continue to train, develop, and remain accountable to that lineage.

A legitimate training program should be able to explain its curriculum, its standards, and its expectations. There should be a consistent schedule. There should be a curriculum that makes sense and builds upon itself week after week. There should be a recognizable progression from beginner fundamentals into more advanced material. There should be standards for promotion.

Simply having a black belt on the wall or the words “Brazilian Jiu Jitsu” on the building does not automatically guarantee quality instruction.

Students should not spend years paying tuition without understanding what they are supposed to know, where they are in their development, or what they need to improve. We believe members deserve more than mediocre instruction and arbitrary promotions. They deserve a program with a purpose.

We teach Jiu Jitsu with the expectation that it should work against someone who is resisting.

That means drilling technique, developing positional understanding, learning to escape bad situations, applying pressure appropriately, and regularly testing those skills through live training. There are no shortcuts around that process.

Our standards are intentionally high because we believe a belt should mean something. Progress takes time. Some techniques will be difficult. Promotions are earned. That is part of learning Jiu Jitsu properly.

If you are looking for guaranteed promotions, minimal resistance, inconsistent instruction, or a program built primarily around collecting belts, we may not be the right school for you.

If you want structured instruction, clear standards, legitimate lineage, consistent training, and Jiu Jitsu that you can actually rely on, you will find it here at Guerrilla Grappling.
